Learning How To Use Tables...

These are very essential if you wish to have neat and tidy web pages. I have used TABLES on all of my pages, they're very easy to use in their basic form, and as you can clearly see it's much neater this way, by no means the best way, but in my opinion it's one of the best ways to do so.

I'll take you through each step as how to create a Basic Table for you to use for your own.

To start with you need to have a basic grasp of the tags and what they do in creating a table. Firstly we'll begin creating a 2 cell table, then I'll show the HTML Coding Tags required to create this table.

cell 1cell 2

<table border="1">
<tr>
<td>cell 1</td>
<td>cell 2</td>
</tr>
</table>

Ok here's an explanation of what each of those above tags did in order to produce the above 2 cell table.

Firstly, <table border="1">, this sets the table and the border around the 2 cell table, in order for you to see it, you may if you wish change this number from 1 to 0 or any other single digit number between 0 & 9, <tr>, this sets the table to have a Table Row, <td>, this opens a Table Data in the Table, the </td>, this closes each Table Data in the Table, the more cells, the more of those tags you need, the </tr>, this is used to close the Table Row, and finally the </table> is used to close the whole table, note we didn't have to use </table border>, that's because you only need the border command on the opening <table>

Ok you've tried doing a 2 cell table, now let's try our hand at a 4 cell, 2 row table, we do so as follows...

Cell 1Cell 2
Cell 3Cell 4

<table border="1">
<tr>
<td>Cell 1</td>
<td>Cell 2</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Cell 3</td>
<td>Cell 4</td>
</tr>
</table>

Note we used another <tr> tag for the 2nd row consisting of Cells 3 and 4, and had to close those cells with another </tr>, that's because we were using 4 cells with 2 rows. If you would like to see more tables examples, please check out my Tables Examples page.
