Anchor <A> </A>
The Anchor Tag is used to create a link between your web pages, or for your visitors to navigate to certain parts of your web pages, without having to scroll up & down all the while, they're pretty useful if your visitors wish to go straight to a certain part of information on your web pages. I have used the Anchor Tag for each & every one of the Tags mentioned on this page.
How to set an Anchor Tag:
Firstly you need to name a tag similar to this..
<A NAME="Top"></A> This is your anchor tag, but it still needs targetting, so to do this we use the following..
<A HREF="#Top">[ Top ]</A> This is set on or above the section where you wish to send your visitors, in this example, they would be sent to the top of your web page, as this is an anchor for that very purpose.
To set a link to other web pages or sites, you need to set the HREF to that link, as follows..
<A HREF="http://www.mylink.com>This is to my Link</A> You also may require to target your links, by using these 4 target commands
TARGET="_blank" Causes the link to be loaded into a blank window
TARGET="_top" Causes link to be loaded into current window
TARGET="_parent" Causes the link to be loaded into the parent of the document
TARGET="_self" Causes the link to be loaded into the same window as the link.
So your link would be something similar to..
<A HREF="http://www.mylink.com Target="_blank">This is to my Link</A>
Background Sound <BGSOUND>
The Background Sound Tag allows you to specify (.wav, .au & .mid) sound files to play on your web pages.
How to set a Background Sound Tag:
<BGSOUND SRC="your.wav"> Allows you to specify the filename of the sound file
<BGSOUND LOOP="5"> Allows you to specify how many times you want your file to play
Base <Base>
The Base Tag, is used in between both the <HEAD> </HEAD> tags, and is used to move an HTML Document to another website without moving all the related documents with it, the base URL can be set to the directory where those documents remain. The default target will become the target for all links, unless specified.
How to set a Base Tag:
<BASE HREF="base URL">
<BASE TARGET="default URL">
You may also use any of these 4 target commands (also found in the anchor tag),
TARGET="_blank" Causes the link to be loaded into a blank window
TARGET="_top" Causes link to be loaded into current window
TARGET="_parent" Causes the link to be loaded into the parent of the document
TARGET="_self" Causes the link to be loaded into the same window as the link.
So your link would be something similar to..
<BASE HREF="http://www.mylink.com Target="_blank">
Base Font <BASEFONT>
The Base Font Tag allows you to set your Base Font size to a given number between (1-7). If you use this tag on your web pages, you can use that base font size to set others, by using the + or - signs to set a font size.
How to set a Base Font Tag:
<BASEFONT="2">
Then you may set your Font Size as follows..
<FONT SIZE="+1">Your Text Goes Here</FONT>This then sets your font size at this point to 3
Block Quote <BLOCK QUOTE>
The Block Quote Tag is used to define text quote from elsewhere. Many browsers display it in an indented block surrounded by blamk lines. There are two usual ways of helping this tag along, with the use of both Clear and Nowrap.
How to set a Block Quote Tag:
CLEAR= This allows you to position a quote after a graphic, the attributes used within this are, LEFT, RIGHT and ALL, which specify which margin should be clear, like this...
<BLOCKQUOTE CLEAR="left">
NOWRAP This allows you to specify that the text won't wrap within the tag, like so.....
<BLOCKQUOTE NOWRAP>
Body <BODY> </BODY>
The Body Tag is used for the main body of your document. It should appear directly after the <HEAD> </HEAD> tags. The Body Tag is the most important tag in my opinion for your document, there are many commands you may use within the <BODY> Tag.
How to set a Body Tag:
<BODY>All your main body of your web page, goes here</BODY>
<BODY ALINK="#hexcolor"> ALINK= This command allows you to set the color of your links, once you click on them.
<BODY BACKGROUND="image.gif or image.jpg"> BACKGROUND= This allows you to set an image gif or jpg as your background for your web page. If using an image, you need to either use the filename of that image, or a link to that image.
<BODY BGCOLOR="#hexcode"> BGCOLOR= This allows you to set your background color if you don't wish to use a background image.
<BODY BGPROPERTIES="fixed"> BGPROPERTIES="fixed" This allows you to set a static background image, so your text will flow over the image. (IE only)
<BODY LEFTMARGIN="1"> LEFTMARGIN= This allows you to set the default left margin size.
<BODY LINK="#hexcode"> LINK= This allows you to set the color for all your links before they are clicked.
<BODY TEXT="#hexcode"> TEXT= This allows you to set the color for all your text on your page.
<BODY TOPMARGIN="1"> TOPMARGIN= This allows you to set the default top margin size.
<BODY VLINK="#hexcode"> VLINK= This allows you to set the color of your links after they have been clicked.
Bold <B> </B>
The Bold Tag, allows you to set a given set of text to bold.
How to set a Bold Tag:
<B>you place any amount of text you wish here</B> This would then turn out as follows...
you place any amount of text you wish here
