Religion: Buddhist Upbringing, but is not really a follower. Hair Colour: Black Eye Colour: Brown Height: 5'7" Weight: 150lbs Handedness: Right. Distinguishing Features: Pinches the bridge of his nose and goes 'Issississ' a lot when annoyed. Has a tendency to not look people in the eye. Has a burn mark going up the side of his arm, the result of a kitchen accident. Mutters a Mantra to himself when getting into a 'Sticky' Situation. (Combat, dates, meeting Parents.) Family: Shinaga, Hanzu. (Father) Shinaga, Iji. (Mother). Both have a decent hold on his life, and he dreads going to see them as they fuss over him. Occupation: VF Test Pilot. Affiliation: UN Spacy Rank: Cadet Character Interests: Gothic and oriental art, Heavy loud music, but his main love will always be computers, and they way that technology works. Aside from that, he enjoys Chinese food and culture. Hobbies: Testing whatever he can get his hands on, from VF's to computers, to a new type of food. Yin loves change, so anything new is a hobby, although his interests rarely last longer than a short fling. Things that have stuck are his love for computers and VF design schematics however. Best Friend: Chan-sama, his best friend in china, who he keeps in contact with via electronic mail and messaging. (All via his computer.) Worst Enemy: "Akuma-ko." or She-devil as he calls her, Shinjuku, his ex girlfriend who constantly plagues him with tricks and hacks and nukes over electronic communication. It isn't as if he hates her really, but she hates him with a passion, and in doing so has cost him a lot of time in computer repairs and purges. Turn Ons: Oriental dresses on women. A girl who can talk computer lingo. The feeling of skydiving in a VF and the taste of something new, albeit good or bad. Turn Offs: Hackers, His Ex, old and dull technology, people who are afraid of change and won't take risks, those who try to bond to tradition more than life and squid. (For some reason he thinks it tastes like the devils groin.) Worst Secret: He still loves his ex girlfriend, and just cannot find it in his heart to get back together with her though. It's such a paradox! Character Goals: **Two year Goal - Get his grubby mitts on a VF-22 STURMVOGEL ADVANCED VARIABLE FIGHTER. **Five year Goal - Completely test and prove that a new VR System is much more effective than standard manual controls. Character Background: Yin was born in New Zealand to his two immigrant Japanese Parents, and lived a cosy life on their earnings as spiritual healers, and faith assurors for the ones who needed them. You could say a kind of Buddhist/Evangelist family. His very active and quick mind was soon to bore of the everyday rituals of two old people, chanting their mantras and easing the pains of the feeble. Yin was very quickly introduced to technology, and as soon as he was old enough he began to fiddle and mess with innards of toys to see how they worked, rather than simply playing. As far back as he can remember he has always had this love for technology. His Parents however did not share his joy, and in seeing their sons decent into material possessions, they tried to keep him away from "...the shiny objects.." This however only provoked Yin more towards the study of 'Child Science' and dismantlement of the rest of his things. As more were bought, they would all become taken apart, and even his parents decided to at least go with it and buy expensive toys so he would learn not to break them. Again, a bad decision. Soon dismantling became reassembling, and with it came the trials of invention. Soon many toys joined to become one, and started doing things they shouldn't. At this point, Yin very rarely went outside. His social life was non-existent, and his friends had left long ago. Soon toys became computers and so the cycle went on. By the time he was 14 he was already in the thrall of programming and invention, but school life was suffering. His name had become a local mockery of Geeks and Nerd, and Yin was started to be used as a curse word by the other students. Yin however just shrunk deeper into his hole of Science. However a small field trip was soon to change his ways of thinking, and soon give him another chance. Yin was taken to the local Militia Flying force, a simple MP group who used old and used VF-1 Valkyrie's as their patrol planes, and showed a demonstration to the kids, giving them insight into what the brilliant VF's could do. Yin was dumbstruck by the sheer awesome power and science gone into even the simplest of mechanics. Yin made his way over to the speaker and in front of his whole class he asked what he would need to do to fly "..One of those VF things?" He did not hear the mocking laughter of the class behind him, only the voice of the instructor telling him and the class what he had to do to get into the air force. Yin went home and started to run, he ran there, and then down to the end of his town and back again. For several weeks, Yins regime of testing and computers were put aside to accommodate for his new love of VF's and the physical training he would need to pilot one. Computer programs on his computer suddenly became VF-1 Valkyrie specs, and the people he normally talked to became engineers and others interested in the VF-1 Valkyrie and being its pilot. This is how he met Chan-Sama. One night while reading up more about air force tests and Specs for the various VF's, he came across a person who said he could give him some specs for a new system that he had come across called the BDI system. Basically it was some sort of new VR imaging system. Gladly Yin took it up and saw that somehow this boy had gotta hold of a brief memo speaking about a revolutionary system allowing the pilot to receive and control a VF by mere thought, although it was not for certain yet. From that point on, the two have been swapping information about VF's and soon became friends. Chan-Sama and he have still never met, but they don't need to. After now three years of training, Yin was old enough and ready to apply for the local VF militia. On the morning he was meant to join however, his father confronted him about his selfish and unseemly ways, going against the family religion. As the argument ensued, Yins father swatted a pot of hot green tea off of the table, and it landed against Yins arm, burning his flesh horribly. However through the tears and pain, Yin strode out of the house with a bandage and carried on to the Recruitment office. The pain in his arm was immense, no matter how many times he went to the bathroom and soaked it in cold water, but soon he was asked to go take his entry exam. Yins sheer determination kept him through the test, and as he stood to leave the room, he finally passed out due to pain. When he awoke, his Mother, Father and Examiner were standing above him and all looked rather worried, but somehow impressed. As his Examiner explained he had been taken to hospital and his parents called, his exam was checked and it turned out he had some of the top marks any new entry had seen in a while. His father was already crying with remorse and joy at his son’s dedication, but before they could go on, Yin blacked out from the drugs once more. Awaking again some hours later, Yin was told the wound had been left to long to heal without a scar, but it would be fine in a few weeks. The Examiner offered him a placement in the physical exam and although his parents were not happy about it, they agreed due to his dedication to this career. The physical exam soon came too after a few weeks of healing, and although a bit rusty and cold, he passed the Exam with flying colours. Entering the Militia was no easy task though. Through all the tests and training, Yin only wanted to Pilot a VF, and then find out about its engineering. During this time, he also met Shinjuku. The two had shared a passion, and although a bit geeky, Yin was not a bad looking guy. The two soon came to see and date, and eventually the two got together on a regular basis. Life it seemed could not get much better for Yin. Training passed a bit easier now he had Shinjuku, and she respected and gave all he needed to be happy in a relationship, even though it was his first one. However the times of trial were not favourable to him as his love for VF's increased as soon as he got to pilot one. Basic flying in the militia was not really anything special, and soon he rose to the top of the class, having studied most of their capabilities and blind spots years before. His combat record was unbeaten by his peers and his flight skills were above average. This however gave rivalry to Shinjuku. The two when not together on the base would keep in contact via electronic mail. His time online however became less and less, and later in the year he said that he needed to break it off, due to demand that he had from work. The truth was that he had a mistress. His beaten up old VF-1 Valkyrie. As long as he was in the sky or in the repair bays, he was happy as a pig in mud. Shinjuku became a more... earthly attachment that he felt was dragging him down. The fact of human emotion suddenly hit him in a flash though. Shinjuku walked out of the mess with another man, and Yin felt the pull of something he had not felt before. Insane jealousy. The weeks that followed, it seemed that Yin had an angry vendetta against the young pilot Shinjuku had chosen and with the help of his skills, he made the pilot look like a fool, constantly. Shinjuku did not take kindly to this and soon became just as wanting to make him suffer as her disgraced boyfriend. Yin realized however that his battle was only reinforcing their ties to each other, and soon he decided to not other with either of them again. Fate again decided not to comply. One training day saw a rare malfunction in the exhaust manifold of the Shinjuku’s boyfriend’s engine, and with a dull bang, his rear section collapsed, losing one of the leg nacelles and spinning towards the open plains at breakneck speed. Saving him was reactionary to Yin however, and in doing so earned him even more hate form his Ex. Shinjuku’s lover started commenting how she should not take it out on Yin anymore, but she would not listen. Soon after, she was dumped for being too obsessive over defeating Yin. Yin had to get out of the Militia and away from her, and in doing so he signed up for the Space Fleet as a test pilot. He would have to go through all the basic training of course, but if it got him in touch with his dream VF-22 STURMVOGEL, he could wait for it. Dropping the letter of application into the box, he sighed and looked to the sky.
