How to create a new dial-up connection
1. Double-click the My Computer icon.
2. Double-click the Dial-Up Networking icon.
3. Double-click the Make New Connection icon.
4. Delete the contents of the (Type a name for the computer you are dialing) field, and type Earthlink. Note: You can name your connection anything you like, EarthLink is just an example.
5. Click the Next button.
6. In the Telephone number box, type a local access number. Note: Remember to check with your local telephone company to make sure that the number you choose is a local toll-free call.
7. Click the Next button.
8. Click the Finish button.
9. Click the Earthlink icon with your right mouse button, then choose Properties.
10.Click on the Server Types tab.
11.Uncheck the box next to Log on to network, NetBEUI and IPX/SPX Compatible.
12.Check the box next to TCP/IP.
13.Click the TCP/IP Settings button.
14.Select Server assigned IP address.
15.Select Specify name server addresses.
16.Delete the contents of the Primary DNS field, and type a DNS server specific to your domain (i.e. 207.217.120.83 for EarthLink).
17.Delete the contents of the Secondary DNS field, and type another DNS server specific to your domain (i.e. 207.217.77.82 for EarthLink).
18.Check the box next to Use IP header compression and Use default gateway on remote network.
19.Click the OK button.
20.Click the OK button.
21.Double-click the Earthlink icon.
22.Delete the contents of the Username box, and type the username for the account (i.e your email address for EarthLink - username@earthlink.net). In the Password box, type the password for the account.
23.Click the Connect button.
24.Dial-Up Networking has now been successfully configured to connect to the Internet.

1. Double-click the My Computer icon.
2. Double-click the Dial-Up Networking icon.
3. Right-click on the connection you are currently using, and choose Properties.
