Made up of weapons specialists, demolition crew, and all around enforcer type soldiers, to even qualify for this post you need a high pain tolerance and the ability to withstand extreme enemy torture without breaking. Often known as the Berserkers of the Field these scary folks are not to be messed with. Lets put it this way, in a hand-to-hand battle of one Marshall against twenty soldiers, its the Marshall would come out unscathed.

Having no set leadership, these elite fighters only answer to the highest powers, being of course Commanders. They are trained to use every weapon you can possibly comprehend, can make just about anything into an explosive, and can pilot anything with an engine. It is an unwritten unspoken point of pride that they never use a Zoid to fight their battles for them. Besides, a single Marshall can cause nearly as much damage with his/her special skills as any Zoid could. They are basically the ones sent in when an area needs a sweep. Slipping behind enemy lines with ease, you wont know theyre there until the explosions start under your bunk.

Being a tight knit group they share a barracks and laughs equally, men and women alike. It is in fact this close bond between them that make this particular corp. among the most unique out there. Though commanding officers may suggest a soldier for advancement to this special unit, it is the marshals themselves who have the final say in who joins them. The officers, partly being afraid of them, partly knowing that some of their success lies in being able to trust their fellow Marshalls implicitly, there is seldom a fuss made over a denied entry. They are trusted to know what is best for the unit as a whole.

Should a recruit be called forward, a process decides first if he or she is fit for the duty required. Aside from prowess with weaponry, explosives, stealth, and vehicles, they must pass a small series of initiation rituals , as they are called, to prove themselves. These initiations are carried out and supervised by the current members as a group.

After a majority vote in approval of the candidate wishing to test for the position, the recruit is generally given a difficult and sometimes daunting task to perform. To prevent a recruit from trying to rig the task ahead of time, and to prove the element of chaos (the unexpected) must be always taken into account, it is not even created until moments before it is to be carried out. If completing the task successfully, they must run the proverbial gauntlet, to prove they can take whatever the enemy dishes out. Wrists bound behind their back they stand with eyes forward, making no sound while each member of the unit takes a shot at them. No area of the body is off limits. If crying out, they fail immediately, if not, they are taken for a celebratory beer at the local pub. Little does the recruit know that this is the units chance to see how they handle liquor and how well they keep their mouths shut. If this final test is passed they are allowed to choose a code name and are taken to get a tattoo symbolic of their allegiance to the corp.

Once in, a Marshall knows his mates will watch his back, even at the cost of their own lives. Such is the importance of this highly prized position.
