The Day We Met

The day we met was no surprise

we were standing there in the snow

the light in your eyes gave you away

to the truth I desperately needed to know

My breath was stolen from my lungs

as was my heart from within my chest

This man before me, could he really be

the man I loved but never met?

We said hello and paused a moment as

memories began to unfold in our eyes

Long nights on the phone, whispers in the

dark, snow falling from the skies

Yet when we walked, the sun was shining

and birds sang the sweetest song

Forever is what we knew we'd found

our love could never be wrong

With a brush of his hand, he pushed back

my hair and told me our love was boundless

and in my eyes that same light shone

and for once I stood there speechless
